Hello! how do I change the header image for different pages?
-
I want a different header image and background image on each page but not sure if it is possible, can anyone help a technophobe!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your site is private so we volunteers cannot see which theme you are using.
There are some themes which allow you to choose a featured image for post headers. As for changing the background image or color on each page, the only theme which does that is a photo theme called Duotone.

hello tess, I have now made my site accessible, I am using the theme ‘forever’. I’m not so bothered about the background image, its more the header I would like to be able to change, any ideas?
-
On the Forever theme, you can change the header image by going to Dashboard > Appearance > Header where you’ll see instructions for uploading your own image.
There are some other tips and details here on the Forever theme page.
(p.s. just FYI, your site is still private)

Thanks, I can do that, but I was wanting to have a different header image on each page? any idea?

Forever header: 885 pixels. Suggested height is 252 pixels
You can upload several headers (the number you can upload, I don’t know 5 or 7??) and have them display randomly. That is, each time a page is loaded readers will see a different header. As I said, some themes will use the featured image as a header. Not the Forever theme, though. This list may be incomplete (some newer themes may also have this function), and some of the themes have been retired but these are the ones which will use the featured image as a header:
Adventure Journal, Chaos Theory, Chateau, Coraline, Duster, Ocean Mist, Pilcrow, Splendio, Twenty Eleven, Twenty Ten, Vostok
Replaces regular header image when viewing single post or static page. For dimensions see my post Header images (cropped if larger, no show if smaller).
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/08/23/featured-images/I don’t believe you can use CSS to force a different specific header on each post or page because that is written into the base code of the theme. CSS only alters appearance, not functions. If I’m mistaken another volunteer will correct that idea.

@francesball
To have a different header image on different posts and pages you must use a theme that is designed to have the featured image function. -
Here is a link to themes with will allow you to specify a featured image to be the header:
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/featured-image-header/This link shows all of the current themes which do as you describe: a different header on each page or post!

@tt, yes overlap. but my brain was foggy and now we have a good answer for the original poster. Have a happy day!
