Hi lunaalchemy,
You can limit the number of posts that appear on your homepage, by following the steps listed in below support documentation.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/reading-settings/(or)
Check if Infinite Scroll will do the needful
https://en.support.wordpress.com/infinite-scroll/Note: As long as Infinite Scroll is disabled, the number of posts displayed on the blog page, and on archives pages, is determined by the “Blog pages show at most” setting at Reading Settings.
Check out Category Pages documentation as well regarding having your other blogs in Poetry page.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/Thank you.

Hi there,
So you would like to have a specific page (“poetry” for example) to display some of your posts?
To do so, you will need to create a category for the posts you want appearing on a specific page, for example create a category called “poetry”. Then you will have to add the category to your menu item.
Creating a category page will show a feed of blog posts from a given category.
You can learn more about how to do this by checking out this page https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
However, your “poetry” posts will still appear on the main page as well. If you don’t want to have them on your main page, you might need some CSS to hide them.
I hope this will help you
