Hello, I am randomly getting hundreds of emails stating new user registrations??

I do not have a website/post or topic of discussion on WordPress. however I am getting hundreds of emails every day saying “new user registration on your site magicalsalad” with random people’s emails and passwords. The email is also coming from the sender “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”. When I logged in to check my wordpress, there is nothing here. I don’t understand this. How do I fix this? Have I been hacked? Is someone else using my email to create websites?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @magicalsalad, Is this a self-hosted WordPress site? I don’t think this would happen if the website is hosted on WordPress.com.

Hello guys, I have no idea if it’s self hosted. I didn’t create any website, so it could be likely that its a scam email. But if it were a scam, it would generally have a malicious link, all these emails have are email IDs of random people and their passwords, saying that they have registered to my website.

The emails I get are coming from the ID “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”, however when I come to the WordPress website homepage, the hyperlink says “https://magicalsalad.wordpress.com“

    Good Morning –

This behavior doesn’t sound like it is coming from us. Could you please tell me what the email subject is and the sending email address?

Sure the email subject is “[magicalsalad] New User Registration” and the sender’s email address is “WordPress (email visible only to moderators and staff) via srv623.main-hosting.eu”

Is this you magicalsalad.com ? If so, your site is using the open source WP software and you’re hosted with Hostinger. These forums assist users hosted on WordPress.com, the hosting provider. More about that here https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/#are-wordpress-org-and-wordpress-com-the-same-thing

You should be able to turn off new user registrations in your dashboard at WP-Admin -> Settings -> General and then save your changes.

If you need more help with this head on over to https://wordpress.org/support/forums
