Hello, I have a few…

    Hello,

    I have a few questions…

    1. When I attempt to post my blog to FB there is not image/media/thumbnail to visually attract readers to the site? Is this normal or have I done something wrong?

    2. When I attempt to post to Pinterest only the images/media look suitable for sharing. The format of my blog does not look the same as it does on each page which again does not look visually appealing. Help!
    3. My Gravatar is not visible and its been almost 24 hours since uploading image.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Izolaward,

I’m not sure about your second and third issues, but I can help with the first one!

    1. I had that same issue! WordPress is supposed to sweep whatever page you’re posting for images and suggest one, but I struggled to make that work as well. The way that I fixed it was by adding a blog picture/icon, which also creates a small icon for your entire site. Click the following link:

    https://mommadecookies.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php

Then upload a blog/picture icon. After you do that, your Facebook page should automatically snag that picture!

    Does that help, partially? =)

    Hi there,

The results are still the same…unfortunately. :( I clicked on the link, uploaded an image, saved the changes but nothing shows when I attempt to post to FB. Sheesh!

Thank you for your assistance none the less. :)

I did a little more research for your first issue, and this is what I found:

Per the WordPress member Debecket in this thread, here is how everything is supposed to work:

    1. If a post/page has no featured image or uploaded images, Facebook will display the Blavatar as the thumbnail.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/blavatars/

    2. If a post/page has a featured image, Facebook will display the featured image.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/

    3. If a post/page does not have a featured image, but has images uploaded into the text area, these will be selected by Facebook — up to 5, in the order of most recently uploaded. These images must be uploaded directly, not inserted via the URL or Media Library tabs.

Finally — once a page has been shared on Facebook, the images Facebook found on its first look are stored in a cache. If the images on the page are changed, Facebook doesn’t check until the cache expires (which is unpredictable, can take days or weeks).

There’s a way to force Facebook to check again, which is to use the Debug tool mentioned above. Copy the link of the post and paste it into the blank of this page, then click the Debug tool:

    http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

Let me know if any of that helps!

    Hello,

Yes it did! Thank you!!! I think clearing the cache is what made the distance considering I had steps 1-3 followed to a tee.
