  hello my order summary won’t let me remove the 96 usd subscription for a free subscription.. How can i fix this.

  Are you trying to transfer/ map your domain name to WordPress.com or something else?

  To transfer a domain name to WordPress.com, you’ll have to upgrade to one of the paid plans. You can see all WordPress.com paid plans at https://wordpress.com/pricing page. You can see complete steps for domain transfer here – https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  If you don’t want to upgrade to the premium plan, you can upgrade to the personal plan first and then start with the domain transfer process. If you start with the domain transfer process first, the system would want you to upgrade to the premium plan as that’s the default system settings.
