Hello World Comment Not Deleted?

  If go to my dashboard it says “0 Comments”. If I click on Comments it shows no comments. However, if I go to my actual site under recent comments it shows the original comment from Mr WordPress titled “Hello World!”. How do I get rid of this?

  I think it’s deleted, because i’m getting an error when I click on ‘Hello World’

  Yes, but it still shows up on my pages as a recent comment and then leads to a 404 error. I’d rather it didn’t show up on recent comments… If it’s deleted, where’s it coming from?

  Have you tried dragging the widget off the sidebar and then replacing it again?

  or Clear cache.

  I tried removing the widget and putting it back but that didn’t make any difference. The comment still shows up. Clearing the cache didn’t work, either…

  Look in your dashboard under Comments and make sure it is gone from there – then if that does not work – leave some sort of comment and see if a new comment forces an update.

  It is definitely gone from the Comments section under the Dashboard. Not so sure about adding a new dummy comment because then I’d just have two comments I don’t really want. Removing and adding back the widget did a refresh (I would think) but the comment is still there…

  but you can always delete the dummy comment.

  One would think. However, I can’t truly delete the other comment. By that I mean it’s deleted but the recent comments widget still shows it so I’m concerned that the exact same thing would happen with this dummy comment, too…

  Sidebars are cached, meaning they only update once a half-hour or so. Wait an hour and see if it’s still there.

  Did solve the problem. Before I had deleted the blog post but I hadn’t permanently deleted the blog post. So I did that and the comment went away. Thanks for all your help!
