HELP!!!!

  • Unknown's avatar

    I just bought the custom CSS thing and it has ruined the look of my site!!! I had not even got around to changing anything and everything is out of place. I cannot even revert my page to what it was before. All i wanted to do was change the colour of the font. What is going on? I didnt realise i would be paying money for my blog to go crazy! Would really appreciate some help from someone!

    Thanks

    A quick look at your source code shows that you’re got the “Start from scratch and just use this” box checked when you look at Dashboard -> Presentation -> Edit CSS page. That means the only CSS to use if the stuff you’ve added it.

    Try checking the “Add to existing CSS” box instead. What you add in for your own CSS will come after the theme’s CSS and just override what’s currently there.

    Hope this helps,

    The CSS was probably still cached in your browser. I should have pointed that out. Sorry about that. :)

    Do you mean for your links, headers or everything?

    Gone to look…

    I think this would work:

    #sidebar, #sidebar a {
         color: #000;
    }

    I’d have to fiddle with it to be sure but I don’t have a text blog anymnore with the css editor.

    yeah thanks alot, that worked but only for the actual links and not the headers for the links. I also wanted to change the title of post colour to black aswell. Appreciated if you could help me on that aswell.

    Hi, I have also recently purchased the css editor, followed the above instructions and even cleared my cache. However, my blog template still looks messed up. Please advise. Thanks!

    Hey meatandpotatoes! First thing would be the header. You have a padding that overwrites what the original CSS has in the main CSS sheet that is being called. It is calling:

    #header {
    	background: url(images/box-repeat.jpg) center;
    	margin: 0 auto 20px;
    	text-align: left;
    	width: 720px;
    }

    You then have your CSS called to overwrite it with:

    #header {
    background:#73a0c5 url('images/kubrickheader.jpg') no-repeat bottom center;
    background-color:#73a0c5;
    height:200px;
    width:758px;
    margin:0 0 0 1px;
    padding:0;
    }

    Different padding.

    The rest will be just what div’s you are calling in main sheet versus your own revised sheet. The best thing to do is compare the source of your webpage and compare it to the main sheet and your revised sheet to get the header and footer back in line!

    Hope that gets you started!
