  Aloha nuthouseeducation, WordPress.com does not permit FTP access, but here are some alternatives you have:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/

  You are not able to install new themes using the hosted version of WordPress that is supported here; that is only available on self-hosted sites.

  Are there specific features you want or is it more of the look?

  There are hundreds of themes available for you to choose from on WordPress.com:
  https://wordpress.com/themes/

  If you are unable to find one you like and think you want to try a self-hosted site, WordPress.com has created a good guide for moving things over to a self-hosted site:
