  Hi am am pretty new to wordpress and am trying to upload a theme to my wordpress that I bought on Theme Forest.com. I bought and dowloaded the theme and then had to compress it to a .zip so I could install it.

  But after I tried to upload it, it said “The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.”

  Anyone have any suggestions?

  It sounds like you’re working with a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which is slightly different from the free service at WordPress.com. You can read about the differences here.

  Unfortunately we’re unable to help with WordPress.org themes. You may have better luck contacting the theme developers directly.
