I am needing help with my site to collect information and to send dog pedigrees via email

    Site: https://obkcorg.wordpress.com.
    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hello there,

Happy to help you with this.

It possible to do this and a good place to start would be via the form block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/form-block/

What information specifically are you looking to collect?

    Many thanks.

do u have an email I can talk to u about

  • Hi @copabull, we do offer direct support with paid plans, sure! If you wanted to hire someone to handle it for you, we offer that as well. What do you have in mind?

It sounds like you want to have information emailed to you from your site. If that’s correct, the form block we mentioned will be perfect.

If you want to turn emails into site posts, we have something for that as well, though you wouldn’t have nearly as many formatting options as you would in the block editor:

    Post by Email

Does that help? If you’re willing to share more details we’d be happy to point you in the right direction.

We have a A dog registry and trying to launch a website where they can sign up for their pedigrees we we will email them their digital copy of the pedigree and then we will also send them the original via email. We would love features for our members to message each other if they like the dogs on their profile. It is a lot easier if I can talk to someone versus email

  • Got it! If the pedigrees are going to be purchased and customized, maybe WooCommerce would work well. And, if you want the site to have social features, there are plugins for that as well.

The Business Plan may be a good fit:
    https://wordpress.com/business

Annual plans come with chat-based support in English, so you could hop into a chat and go over what you’d like to do so staff can help you find the right tools to build your site.

Or, if you’d to consult with a developer / designer to build this for you, we can help with that. I’d recommend reaching out here: https://wordpress.com/built-by-wordpress-com/

So I have to pay before I know if this is a good fit?

  • I’d be happy to try to outline your options:

Option 1) An email form and payments:
If you only need people to submit information on a site form, pay for it on the site, and then you deliver the chart to their email, then any paid WordPress plan should suit you. You could start free, build up the site and the form, and add payment options last after you buy a plan here. You can get started here: https://wordpress.com/free — just skip any upgrade options, then contact us if you need help implementing the form we recommended earlier.

Option 2) A full shopping cart with product customization, as well as member-to-member messaging:
This is not directly built into WordPress. It would require some design decisions around what plugins to use, and decisions on how to use specific features. Or it may even require some custom code.

On the other hand, I’m unaware of any other content management system that’s designed for this specific purpose. So the extendability of WordPress would likely make it a good fit for you, if you’re either willing to do what development is needed, or hire someone to take care of it for you.

If you want Option 2, you have a few different ways to try different plugins or development to make it work.

    A) You could start a site on the Business Plan here, which does cost up front (as plugins complicate our infrastructure and support offerings) but we do have a refund policy if it doesn’t work for you:
    https://wordpress.com/support/refunds/#plans

    B) Or, you can install your own copy of WordPress on your computer or with another host to test it that way:
    https://get.wp.com

And, if you want to consult with someone who would develop the site for you, we recommend reaching out here: https://wordpress.com/built-by-wordpress-com/

That’s a lot of information, so I’ll try to make the different options clear. I hope it helps.
