Somehow my latest post became the only thing visible on my posts page?!?!?!? So that one post has become the page rather than an actual post. PLEASE HELP!!!

I noticed you have two sites, so I was not sure which one your issue is with. Can you clarify which site we should be looking at, and describe for us a little about what the homepage “used to be” before this change?

The “posts” page on which new posts appear in precis has been replaced by my most recent post in its entirety. Though all my previous posts still exist, no one can see them, I guess unless they had bookmarked the particular post, because the place where they were all seen as separate links is now replaced by this one post.
I didn’t do anything different as far as I can tell. I had written the most recent post as a draft and then published it but somehow it took over the page rather than being a post and I can’t find an earlier version to return to

Can you tell met he exact URL you’re looking at in your browser?
You currently have a page titled “The Recipes” set as the posts page on that site, visible at https://tripleoaktesters.wordpress.com/home/the-recipes/, and I can see all your posts listed on that page.
If that’s the page you’re looking at, please check if clearing your browser cache helps at all.

When I go to “the recipes” all I see is Grandma Lil’s Chocolate Loaf Cake – even though I did clear my cache and cookies (all time) (twice) :)

When I’m in the back end, if I go to the posts I can see all the posts there, but if I’m looking at the actual website and click on the “The Recipes” link on the webpage all I get is that one post

Even when you scroll down to the bottom? I can see “Two Hot Fudge Sauces” below that one, and “Chocolate Peanut Butter Ganache” below that. (Thanks for making me drool on my keyboard, by the way :D )
If the older posts aren’t loading for you, it might be a browser problem. You say you’ve already cleared the cache, but please also check if you get the same thing if you use a completely different browser.

It appears to have fixed itself??? (unles you or someone else did something) Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it!! This seems to happen periodically with WordPress (possibly because I’m using the free service) – things randomly get changed and then reappear the way they were before. Not my favorite feature, I’ll admit!

I’m guessing you’re referring to things that have happened in the past but resolved themselves by this point? If you see any odd behavior like this again please let us know and we’re happy to take a look.
Also it can be a huge help to us if (when you get something odd like this) you can take a screenshot of the entire page including the page URL, so we can compare what you saw to what we see. To share a screenshot with us, you can upload it to the Media Library on your site, and then copy the image URL. You can see a video of how to do this here: https://d.pr/v/Fcnerp

Ok, it’s doing it again.
Last night it was back to normal, that is: The recipe page when I first started this had a teaser of the most recent post and then below that, thumbnail/teasers of the three or four posts below that and then I had added a list of the recipes that were links to the posts since there appeared not to be an index (I’m newish to this, am using the free version, and don’t always have time to poke around.
This morning when I open the The Recipes page it is each post in it’s entirety in succession from most recent to oldest in one long line. If it goes back to the previous way, I will screen shot it though.
Good grief. I’m getting whiplash!!

Hi! It looks like you’ve just got a few different pages you’ve been working on, and maybe you’re changing up which one ends up on the front page?
Go to https://wordpress.com/pages though.
I think the one called “The Recipes” sounds close to what you’re describing. If that is the one you want as the front page, do two things:
– Publish it (it’s currently a draft)
– Use Customize > Front Page to pick that as the front page of your site, then save those changes.
Basically, you can decide what you want on the front page, or you can just show the latest posts. And if you decide to play around with a different layout and make that the front page instead, no problem. Again, just publish then set it as the front page.
And for everything that _isn’t_ the front page, we’ve got menus to help you link everything together. There’s a tutorial here, but let us know if you need help:

I figured it out … now I feel like an idiot :D
It’s the “set as posts page”
I think I assumed it needed to be set as that except that THAT’S what makes it list all the posts in a line rather than the summary page I wanted
