vanlifeandkids1.wordpress.com is showing as primary.
I had vanlifeandkids.blog which i didnt renew as i seen i could have a free domain which i had vanlifeandkids.com
I have noticed not all my site is transferred mainly front page.I have no idea why some would transfer and some didn’t.
It was only yesterday I took on vanlifeandkids.com but it still has primary as vanlifeandkids1.wordpress.com

if I was to renew vanlifeandkids.blog will it mean the old site will have the old pages still or will that need redoing?

I see that the WordPress.com Explorer plan expired, which is why the custom domain is no longer set as the primary address. Please upgrade to the plan again so that you can set vanlifeandkids.com as the primary address.
After upgrading, you can follow the steps here to set your domain as the primary address.
On a separate note, are you sure you no longer wish to keep the domain vanlifeandkids.blog? It expired already, but I wanted to ask for confirmation since an expired domain can be expensive (sometimes impossible) to get back in the future.

If I renew how much is it in total? Will my site be as it was as the front page seems to have altered completely

The front page changed because you had a premium theme on your site. When the Explorer plan expired, the premium theme was deactivated, and a default theme was activated in its place. All the pages and posts you had are still on your site; they are just in different places due to the sudden theme change.
Upgrading to the yearly WordPress.com Explorer plan will cost £84/year. Please let us know here after upgrading, and we can reactivate the previous premium theme on your site so that the old design returns.
