  Domain registrations are charged on a yearly basis. You can see the full list of available domain name extensions (also called TLDs) and their yearly pricing in USD here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/

  Note that in order to use a custom domain on your WordPress.com site, you’ll also need a paid WordPress.com plan. You can pay for a plan monthly (but the domain registration will still have to be paid for the whole year). Please check out our plans and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing
