Help adding Recipe Plug-In?
-
Just wondering if I can add a recipe plug-in to my site? I found a couple I really like just not sure if I’m able to add them to my site and how to do it / is there a way to add a box to go above my recipes at least where I can fit in “Yield/Prep Time/Cook Time” to make my recipes look cleaner and easier to read?
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. It’s not possible to install any plugins on WordPress.com and there is no upgrade that will give you that ability. You’ll only be able to use plugins if you set up a self-hosted blog using the WordPress.org software.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

ok so is there any option other than plug-in for adding a sort of box like to enter yield/prep/cook time or not even that?

Do you mean like a text box in a word processor, a frame around a specific bit of text?
It might be possible using HTML. I’ll play around with it a bit, see if I can figure something out and get back to you if someone else doesn’t beat me to it.

Hi there,
On WordPress.com, you can use shortcodes to embed a recipe with consistent formatting, basic metadata, and an option to print. See here http://en.support.wordpress.com/recipes/
There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/Alternatively, if you want FTP access and the ability to install plugins or third party themes into a site then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

@timethief
I wasn’t aware of that shortcode. But then there are more than a few of them. Thanks :) -
@kokkieh
Good day to you. :) I think you missed the introduction of the recipe code. I like using it. Here’s and example of what it creates http://thistimethisspace.com/2014/05/03/asparagus-flan-or-crepes-with-maltaise-sauce/ -
That does make the recipe look very neat. I’ll make a note of this, not that I post many recipes, but you never know ;-)

Timethief – I’ve tried creating the recipes shortcode in a blog post but it does not show the box. I’ve switched from the Visual to the Text tab, but I must be doing something wrong. Are you aware of any additional tutorials beside the one you provided?

@heidiro
I am sorry but the only instructions I have are the ones I linked to at http://en.support.wordpress.com/recipes/
Please try them again. -

It cannot be this one because I can see the shortcode worked on it http://foodnwhine.com/2015/01/23/ramen-is-dead-at-least-i-have-gochujang-bacon/
