Help administering blog from employee who left company

I’m a new hire at my company, and am working on setting up a new blog.

Our previous blog is still running (blog.example.com), as a wordpress site. I have a new blog (blog.mytemphost.com) that I would like to make live, but I would like to use blog.example.com, which is currently being used by the other blog at the moment.

Our IT department has no record of blog.example.com in their DNS, even though they own example.com. So I’m at a loss here as to where to go next. I simply want to shut down blog.example.com, which is a blog we own for a domain we own (just cant find the registrant, since they left the company a while ago and took this knowledge with them).

    Any pointers?

For starters I really doubt that you own and admin blog.example.com – we need the actual URL’s involved before any one can even guess at giving you useful help –

note – if the employee has left the company they still “own” the blog not the company and you need to get it back from the company – so hopefully you did not fire the old employee and are still on good terms with them
