HELP! Blog Title – Confused

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi

I’ve been with WordPress for 5 minutes and already I’m pretty frustrated. While signing up I was asked to input a username and a blog title. I chose both, but now I have a blog with my username at the top in big bold letters, and my chosen blog title nowhere to be seen.

    My questions are –

    1. How do I fix this (please, don’t use too much tech talk, I signed-up with WordPress because I was told it was user friendly, though already i have serious doubts).

    2. Why oh why does it do something so irritating? It’s completely counter intuitive – surely your blog name should be at the top? Isn’t that the point of it?

    Debbie

Settings > General > Blog Title & Tagline. Don’t forget to scroll down and click Save Changes.

And please give a link to your blog when asking questions, or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky “8 Things to Know”.

It’s possible that the tag line could be theme dependant too. If you’ve chosen a tag line, and you cannot see it, I suggest you try some other themes.

And wordpress.com is user friendly, it just takes some getting used to, just like everything else.

Yes, that’s correct. Many themes don’t display a tagline, although somehow Google is able to read it because it’s still in the code for your blog. With five pages of themes, you can probably find one to suit you pretty quickly.

I have multiple blogs but on global dashboard, only some of their names are accurately reflected. Others are simply “my blog”. I know I fixed/saved the name & tag lines for each of these. Why are they still showing up as “my blog” in the grey bar up top?

No idea. I would suggest you contact staff directly via your Support button. That’s a very weird situation.
