Help! Blog using wrong Twitter handle on Share button
-
Hi @tfmichael – This is because you have a multi-author blog, and once a post is publicized to a certain Twitter account under a certain author, the Twitter handle doesn’t change. This is because the system assumes that’s that author’s Twitter, regardless of what the blog’s Twitter is.
But now that you have publicize connected to the new Twitter account, posts published on an ongoing basis should reflect that new Twitter account in the sharing button as well. Let me know if they don’t.

Help,
My blog http://panchaleswar.wordpress.com is sharing my posts with my old twitter handle @panchcloud where as I have updated the handle with @BigOpenCloud, I have tried by removing the twitter sharing reconnecting but no use.Please help.

Help! We are experiencing the same issue (connecting to the wrong Twitter handle). We have connected the correct Twitter account via Publicize and listed the correct handle in the , but WordPress still picks up the wrong handle. (Should say via @Tea_N_Strumpets.)

Let me amend my post above. The @… user is correct when sharing pages via the Twitter share button, but not blog posts. We are a multi-author blog, and currently the Twitter share button picks up one of the individual author’s handles, not the group handle (for blog posts, not pages). Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

@karinezkorner-
Hi there,
Please note that the posts that were already published before you changed your Twitter handle will still show the same Twitter account they were posted to via Publicize. However, posts published after you changed it should show the correct one.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Same issue here as well!! Trying to get my Twitter username updated to @MWYpmid on the share button.

@ypmid-
Hi there,
I see that you just added the new Twitter connection a day ago. Your new posts should now publish on that account. I tested the connection and it seems like it’s working! Please note, your previous posts will still remain under the old Twitter account.
Let me know if you find otherwise!
Cheers!

Same issue is happening for me on my blog – realtorconfessions.wordpress.com. It should be using the twitter handle @matthewabauman NOT @CoachMeNYC for sharing (not sure why this is happening). Thanks!
-
@realtorconfessions – I checked your connection and it is currently working. When you create a new post please make sure you Publicize connection is connected in the Publish module. It will look like this:
Cheers!

Thanks Grace — I think there was a miscommunication. I’m speaking about when someone else wants to share my post — the twitter box opens up and this is what the tweet looks like: “New York, New York http://wp.me/p4pmM4-C via @CoachMeNYC” — but that twitter handle @CoachMeNYC is NOT the twitter handle I selected for “Twitter username to include in tweets when people share using the Twitter button.” — the one I want is @matthewabauman
Let me know, thanks!

Did you recently change your twitter handle? Because currently the one on there is @matthewabauman. Please note that all previous posts before you changed your twitter handle will be under the old account. Please try publishing a new post and check if the twitter handle is the old one.
Let me know how this works out!

HI there,
Just an update. We are able to change the twitter handles for even old posts now. I have already gone and updated this for @letsbehumaneblog and @realtorconfessions.
@ypmid-
If you could provide me the blog and the old twitter handle I will update it for you!

My twitter share button still shows @davidrmosley87 (which is an existing but now private account) instead of @elflandletters the account I created for my blog and the account i have in the box provided. The blog in question is elflandletters.wordpress.com. Thanks.
