Help Changing WordPress Domain Name to New Domain
-
Hi
I am having some real issues transfering my wordpress site (www.cyclingletour.wordpress.com) to my new domain name I have registered http://www.onedayahead.co.uk with 123reg.com
I have searched the forums long and hard but I think it is simply my lack of understanding that is runining me!
Do I have to pay 123reg.com to host the site as they are asking for £50 or is their another way of using the domain name?I have paid the money to wordpress to allow me to use the external site but I really dont want to lose the use of WordPress, which has been superb and export it all elsewhere.
Help, its all for a good charity cause!
Thanks
Jamie

You can map your new domain name to your blog here – $ 12– US / year
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
You will need a zone record added for your name to work – I will flag this for the staff to add a zone record.
You can host your site on 123reg if you want and use WordPress.ORG software – you would need to export your content from WordPress.COM and import it to your .ORG install on 123reg – BUT you then have to fix the site yourself or hire it done
