Help Closing Account and Cancelling Subscription

    Hi WordPress Team,

    I set up a personal WordPress account using my private email address. It has somehow linked up with my professional account. They are supposed to be entirely separate. My professional email is different so I’m not sure how it appears as a site on my private WordPress account?

    Secondly, I’m trying to cancel my private WordPress subscription but I’ve searched through my account settings and can’t find out how to do this. Please advise.

  • We have absolutely no history of purchases, transactions, or billing activity of any kind under the account you’re currently logged into.

    What exactly are you trying to cancel, and also what is the email address you’re trying to separate?

    thank you for the reply. I received an email from WordPress to my private email saying my subscription would auto-renew ( (email visible only to moderators and staff) ). I replied, logged in to my personal account, but your message sent to my work account. The private blog (skehanfamilyhistory.wordpress.com) has nothing to do with my work account so I’d really like to shut it down and ensure I’m not charged.

    Any further insights would be much appreciated.

    The site was created under a different account – using the email address you mentioned in your post above (no worries, staff can see those). It is not, however, in any way connected to other accounts. There’s only one admin and no other users in the team.

    If you received the message to another email address – please check if there’s no forwarding set on your end.

    That said, you should be able to log out from gerardskehan, and log back in using the correct email address. There, you’ll be able to manage your subscriptions from https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/. In case you need help with that, you’ll also be able to reach out to support via https://wordpress.com/help/contact.

    Thanks again! It’s strange as I don’t get any notifications at the email I created the account under. Just to my work email. And when I go to billing history there is no record of any payment (I paid a subscription back in October 2020). The message I received has informed me that the subscription will auto-renew – but there is no way to opt out of this as my billing history is empty.

    I know I sound like I’m not very tech literate, but I’m reasonably proficient. I just need to close my account and prevent any further charges but there is no visible way of doing this. Can someone do this from WordPress team?

    It sounds like you have multiple accounts perhaps and there may be some confusion….
