HELP! Code item will not show
-
I have previously posted HTML (or CSS) code (for an affiliate) in my ‘Sewing the suspense and horror with needle ” post and the code I put in worked.
I’m trying to do the same today and the code posts and the code itself only shows, not what it’s supposed to show. It’s the same type of code so it should work So what is going on?
In case it will help … I’ve tried doing it in both a post (which I think is still up) and as a page. Regardless of which type, it won’t work.
Please help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. Did you insert the code in the visual or the text editor? It should be the text editor. If you switch to the visual editor you shouldn’t see the code at all, only the actual links as they would appear on your post.
-
I also notice you’re using images for your affiliate links. That is in fact not allowed and it could get your blog suspended. We’re only allowed to use text links to affiliate programs, not image links:
We do not allow any image with an affiliate link.

OMG sorry took so long to reply (it took this long to get through all my email I had since I posted, I miss a day or 2 and its a nightmare)
Thank you Figured that out, about the text & visual. I forgot how I had posted the Needle review.
As for the image affiliates…What if one uses the affiliate image as a description like when I’m not sure how to describe something? Does this also go for those who actually pay for their blog? Frankly If the image is for something related to the post or page then it should be aloud. being as the link you sent said something about applyiung for the word ad program those word ads usually hav nothing related to the topic of the post. I’ve seen them, they had them on squidoo.com. I hate those things when I’m reading a page somewhere those bubble ads come up & sometimes they don’t want to go off. Also Likely I won’t use the image option all the time. It depends on what I’m posting (about etc) it may be a link, a widget etc. Also when I used the image option for that review I don’t think the other options worked for me at the time of posting.

It does not matter if you have purchase an upgrade. What I post below applies to all blogs hosted by WordPress.COM.
Posting of some affiliate links is possible, provided the blog is an actual blog and not just a storefront with links in every post driving traffic to external sites. http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/ closely.
WordPress.com allows bloggers to insert text affiliate links within post and page content to most third-party affiliate programs, provided they are not the primary content of the site in question.
Image affiliate links in posts and pages and any banners, affiliate links in sidebar or footer widget areas, are still considered to be advertising and are not allowed on WordPress.com blogs.
No blogger initiated advertising is allowed on WordPress.com blogs. The only blogs that can be equipped for ecommerce are those with the $299. per year business upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed.

http://en.wordpress.com/tos/There are no such restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this guide to learn about the differences.

The Prob. right now is I don’t have the money for one of the blogs to get the word ads (if I did, I wouldn’t exactly need the money in hopes of getting royalties so I can maybe pay for at least one upgrade of some sort.)
While I think of it, If I pay for one of the custom themes do I end up having to pay for it again if I change from the upgraded theme to any other sort & then want to change back to the one paid for after awhile? (I like to keep my themes with the season or my moods etc. esp. once I get sick of seeing the same thing after awhile.)

Frankly If the image is for something related to the post or page then it should be aloud.
Let’s say you do a book review. It shouldn’t be a problem if you include an image of the book cover as part of your review, but the image may not be linked to Amazon Affiliates. The affiliate link must be attached to text, e.g. the book title.
If I pay for one of the custom themes do I end up having to pay for it again if I change from the upgraded theme to any other sort & then want to change back to the one paid for after awhile?
“When you purchase a premium theme, it is available for the lifetime of that blog.” – http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/premium-themes/
Premium themes are bought once-off. If you switch to another theme your purchase isn’t cancelled and you should be able to switch back to it later, provided it is for the same blog. If you want to use the same theme on a different blog, then you’ll need to buy it again for that blog.
