Help Connecting Existing Blog to MySQL Apache Please!

Hi, I hope the title is accurate!
I’m new to blogging and working with web pages but I read great things about WordPress so decided to learn more. I’ve created a blog online with nothing more than using the Dashboard and chnaged a few visual elements.
I’m trying to now understand how I can manage it offline using MySQL+Apache+PHP5 which I have installed on my Linux box.
I’ve read the instructions at http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress and I feel ok with it but I’m wondering is this to create a new blog?I hope this doesn’t sound to dumb by is there a way to complete the installation steps and have some form of synchronization with the blog I already have to avoid starting from scratch?
I’d appreciate any help and advice you can suggest. Thank you.

Oh, I’m afraid there’s a misunderstanding here. It seems you have mixed things up. This is WordPress. COM. So you can’t use the guidelines for WordPress.ORG. Sorry.

Ooops! Thanks for the explanation and for resolving my problem universalgeni. I was getting a little confused. On a plus side I’m going to keep my wordpress.com blog so now I can have two =D

You will need your wordpress.com user account if you choose to use the Akismet plugin and/or thw ordpress stats plugin on your wordpress.ORG install, and also if you want to continue commenting on wordpress.COM blogs. Not to worry as accounts aren’t deleted. See here re: information on API keys for the plugins http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/ -

I definitely would have missed that, thanks! That’s a great tip and link. I’m strongly considering making my blog private to record all my web design study notes. I’m thinking I can then format it nicely, check the accuracy and in time make it fully accessible and maintained to help others. Should make a nice record of learning process for me in developing both the wordpress.com and .org accounts and the tools I’m studying.Thanks again for all your help guys. Hopefully in time I’ll know enough to be able to come back and help people here too =D
