Help Converting Static Site to WordPress
-
Hi All,
This is my first time posting, so I hope I’m putting it in the right place. I apologize if it is not.
I am working on a website that started out as static html, and I’m trying to bring it over to WordPress. The old site can be viewed here. The problem is, pieces of the old site on mobile devices no longer work on the WordPress version. I have images and text simply falling off the screen, and the default zoom is wrong. You can view the testing version of the new site here. The old site wasn’t exactly “mobile friendly” but at least the site worked for the most part. I need to get this resolved soon and I would really appreciate any help your collective wisdom could offer.
Thanks!

Hi Daniel,
The WordPress site you’re working on is built using then open source WordPress.org software at another host. We cannot help with this here – this forum can only help with sites hosted on WordPress.com, not WordPress sites hosted at other providers or on your own server.
You can find help with your version of WordPress at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
That said, what you’re describing indicates your site’s theme is not responsive, and looking at the source code in my browser, it looks like you’re using your own custom theme which essentially just duplicates the design of your original site.
I’d recommend starting fresh with an already-responsive WordPress theme ( https://wordpress.org/themes/ ). You can then always use additional CSS, or even create a child theme to get it more in line with the look you want. But that way you’ll be building on top of the right foundation.
