Help – Domain expired
-
Hello,
I am not able to log into my Margber.com site and have gotten a notice that says my domain registration expired. This domain was on automatic renewal and was renewed March 15th. Could someone please help me sort this out.
Thank You.
The blog I need help with it margber.com

Your domain name expired Feb 16 or so – it is not registered here, you need to contact your Registrar to renew it, we can’t help with the domain name registration renewal.
You seem to have margber.com mapped to a blog here, but you need to renew both mapping and name registration

I do not understand how I renew the domain. Could you please send me in the right direction. I am not sure who I contact to renew it. I was originally at blog.com I think. But I do not even know how to get there to ask someone about this.

Your registrar seems to be Registrar: KEY-SYSTEMS GMBH – Check with them – there is a bit more info at the link I gave above. I don’t know if they are a reseller or not, but a good place to start, as is your records of who you paid what to
Yes the $ 99.- includes domain name registration, however since your domain name is not registered with WordPress.COM the “registration” does not do any good and WordPress.COM is not set up for incoming domain name transfers, you need to keep the domain registered with a different registrar.

Sorry for the confusion but I have one more question. Is my blog TwentyThirteen still here somewhere or has it been deleted? If it is still here, is there some way to register it here and purchase a new domain so I do not have to map or worry about this happening again. I’d like to only be associated with WordPress.
Thanks so much for your help.

Your content is safe and has not been deleted, My guess is that it is at: https://margber.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php
Moving the domain name here would take around 60 days, during that time all the links to your site will be broken, and since you would be letting the domain name expire and revert back to the wild and MAYBE you could purchase it again, might be held by the registrar, maybe auctioned or sold to a squatter and held hostage for a large amount of money.
DO NOT EVEN THINK OF LETTING THE DOMAIN NAME REVERT TO THE WILD – you might not get it back – sorry you will need to keep your domain name registered at another registrar and not here – sorry
Look in your records and see if you can find the link to your registrar or just start working back from the info I gave you, speed is important at this point

Oh dear. Ok, well, thank you. I do not even have any idea where to look to for help in renewing it. I have no records of where I purchased it from a year ago.
Im so upset about losing my blog because of something that was so unclear. I thought I HAD renewed it.
Thanks for your help.

Yes a bit of a mess – Remember – all your content is safe – it has not been deleted – it is just a bit tough to find at the moment
It looks like this would be a good start – looks like they have email & 24 hour phone support
http://www.key-systems.net/en/homepage
http://www.domaindiscount24.com/en?currency=EUR
http://www.domaindiscount24.com/en/company/contact
Try: Dashboard >> Store >> Domains >> set the Primary back to margber.wordpress.com – and you can see your blog – just with the base address
Good luck

Sadly, I have tried with no success at contacting someone regarding my domain renewal. I do not want to lose my blog and more imporatntly, do not want to lose it’s content.
Is there anyway at all I can switch the registration to WordPress and the address to margber.wordpress.com? If I did that, would all og my content be exactly how I left it a few days ago and would my blog site appear the same?
When you say broken links, does that have something to do with the way my site works? Or just the way people find it?

WordPress.COM can not accept incoming domain name transfers. And to transfer a domain name you need to work with the registrar the name is registered with, the same people you need to work with to renew the domain name.
A domain name can’t just be transferred away from a registrar, if it could anyone could steal someone’s domain name. There are procedures in place to make sure names are not stolen, and all require the original person that owns the name working with the registrar
In the first post you said you had received a notice your domain name needed to be renewed, that is the company you need to work with to renew it.
-
The notice was not from a company. The notice was a warning that popped up on my screen when I tried to log onto my site.
I am not interested in a domain anymore. I have lost hope in trying to contact anyone. There are no contact numbers or support forums at Blog.com. this was the reason I switched from them to you a year ago.
I am wondering if I can just keep my blog, and its content without a domain?

Have you tried getting help with the links I gave above? They claim less than 24 hour response time.
This looks like how to renew with a name originally at Blogger
https://support.google.com/a/answer/4377734
To have your blog available to the public, reset the Primary Domain
Dashboard >> Store >> Domains >> Set the primary back to your base WordPress.COM blog name, that will allow folks to see your site – BUT – since you have had the custom domain name for at least a year, nobody will know how to find you.
So I would set the Primary back to //margber.wordpress.com/ (I am assuming that is your base blog) so you can see the content (it is still there and safe) – but I would also keep working on the domain name renewal since that is how your friends and followers know how to find you.
I will flag this for staff attention, maybe they have some other info on renewing your domain name, and they can switch your Primary Domain back for you but the staff is backed up for several days, so you are better to keep trying yourself –
sorry I can’t help more – hope this helps

You have been such a tremendous help. The situation is has proven to be fruitless. I appreciate all you have done to try to help me sort this out.
Yes, I have tried contacting the links you posted for me. I got a hold of Key Systems through email and they claim that the renewal process must go through Blog.com. They informed me that my domain is not directly maintained by them, but by Blog.com, Inc who are using their system as a registration back-end. Then they suggested that I contact blog.com directly for further information or any inquiries regarding my domain. And there-in lies the problem. Blog.com has no support or help forums or contact numbers. There is nobody to contact. Not even an email address anywhere. This was the reason I dumped them a year ago and today their incompetence still haunts me.
I so appreciate your patience and help trying to sort out this mess. I will just set the primary back to my base address here and start from scratch. At least I will not lose my site’s content this way. I think I understand you correctly in that I can Set the primary back to my base WordPress.COM blog name and my content will be safe indefinitely.
Thank you again for trying to help.

One last question and then I will wait for staff attention…
When I set my primary back to my base wordpress.com name, if I at that point register a NEW wordpress domain, would I be able to point my blog to the new domain??? I know I’d lose followers and friends would not know where to find me, but I can work with that.
Im so sorry I have taken up so much of your time. Thanks for your help.

I also found a sort of some questions answered for blogger domain renewal – once renewed you could transfer the domain name to another registrar
Yes, your content is safe as long as you don’t delete it – now it is a bit tough to look at because of the domain mapping to a custom domain name that is in renewal
Once you set the primary back to //margber.wordpress.com/ you can register a new custom domain name and map the domain name to //margber.wordpress.com/ –
your old domain name might revert back to the wild some time between 30 & 60 days – or someone with the same name might grab it also – so if you like the original name keep an eye on it and you might get lucky
you be welcome & good luck with your blog –
just remember – don’t delete a blog to “start over” and you should be just fine – since once a blog is deleted both the name and contents are gone forever

-
Sorry about the wrong name – Blog.com does have a support section that does not look all that impressive – but they also have a help request form that might work – at this point not much to loose
-
Yes, I have been contacting them for 2 weeks. No response.
I am doomed. :(
Also, do you know how long it takes for WordPress to switch my setting when I switch my primary back? I did that an hour or so ago and I still get sent to that “error – expired doman” msg when I try access my blog.
This is the only URL that will lead to my blog. Is that normal? http://margber.wordpress.com/author/margber/

OK – the domain mapping is interfering with things – cancel it – since it goes to an expired domain the staff should be able to credit back the domain mapping credit since you plan on using it with a different name or the same name if the renewal can ever be fixed
Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades >> Cancel the domain mapping and that should stop the redirection to the expired domain name
