Help! Domain keeps rerouting

Can someone help? I purchased my .com domain through Word Press, knowing I would eventually be moving it over to another site I was creating. The transfer has gone through, and the .com address works for everyone except anyone in my household. It keeps rerouting back to my Word Press page. I have actually fixed the problem on my lap top – repeatedly. I have to keep fixing it because it keeps coming back. I delete my browser history and then reopen my browser, and, viola! It works – until it decides to stop working again. When I try to access the site on my phone, ipad and other computers in the house, they have the same issue, even though no one has ever tried to access either website from any of those devices. I’m at my wits end, because this problem won’t go away, and am considering deleting my Word Press account to see if that makes it stop rerouting. HELP!!!

How long has it been since you made the change? It can take some time for DNS records to update.
Very likely everyone in your house is using the same DNS server, and it could be awhile until that DNS server checks in to get the new address (Read this link for info about TTLs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_to_live).
The reason it is probably working outside of your house is that the DNS servers being used there don’t have a cached record of the address, so they are automatically looking up the address as a new address and getting the correct one.

What you’re describing sounds like some cached settings on the network or ISP level to me.
As a first troubleshooting step, try re-booting your router. I’ve had people tell me that has helped in the past. If that doesn’t do the trick, the next step would be to contact your internet provider and ask them if they have a way to clear the DNS cache for that domain (make sure to include the domain name, you didn’t mention it above).
Also, keep in mind that right after any changes to DNS, those changes take time to propagate and that happens at different rates for different locations. That’s why companies usually say it takes up to 72 hours for a change to completely go through. If you have changed DNS settings very recently, it may just be that you need to wait a bit longer.
