Help! Expound theme suddenly "retired"?

The “EXPOUND” theme is no longer available. This must have happened in the past few days. I signed up for a new account, registered for a domain name, and signed up for a paid plan — only to find that the theme I had planned on using — EXPOUND — has suddenly disappeared!
Is there any way to get this theme? Even to pay for it as a “premium” theme? I used it on another “test” blog which I created last week, and I love it. Nothing else is really working for my needs.

The Expound theme seems to be outdated and is no longer supported. But you can choose from over 300 themes of which 140 are Free.

Trust me, I’ve spent hours looking for something I like as much but have been unable to.
I purchased a premium theme (Antenna) but did not realize I would be stuck with a color palette that is really unpleasant — I thought I would be able to customize colors without CSS (which I have no idea how to use), but I cannot.
Argh.

That was me above — I’m not sure why that blog name came up (it’s mine, but I’m still logged into “highshrink” which I’ve made private until I can come up with a usable theme).

Back to Expound. I gather that once a theme is discontinued there’s no way to get it? It JUST became unavailable in the last few days — maybe just yesterday.

Is there any way to get this theme?
Retired themes may be used on sites created before they were retired. If you don’t have such a site available, then I’ve got one you may have. It already has the Expound theme applied. If you interested I’ll transfer it to your account, as described in the Transferring a Site to Another WordPress.com Account support page.

Thank you. I have one, too (thinontheground) — but I decided to go with another name, so I got the domain, and mapped it (I think), and when I created the new blog last night, when I went to choose the Expound theme I found it was no longer available.
Is it possible to transfer my own custom domain to a WordPress blog I created last week (which has the Expound theme)?

I think you may map the custom domain to the site, as described in the Use a Domain You Already Own (Domain Mapping), or alternatively you may Map a Subdomain. However, I’m not sure if you may transfer the upgraded plan to the site as well. @timethief probably knows. If she doesn’t respond soon regarding this question, you may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar at right here, to call for staff attention.

I hadn’t seen that. Not sure if a domain previously mapped to one WordPress.com site, can be mapped again to a different WordPress.com site.

I love the “magazine-look” grid with excerpts — I really like the look of a row of “blocks” interspersed with wider horizontal thumbnails/excerpts. I’ve checked out all the other themes that offer excerpts but have not found any other theme that works for me as well. I’ve gone with the Antenna premium theme, but it has several things about it that are proving to be headaches.
Had I been a day or two faster in my domain purchase, I could have had the Expound theme. I coulda been a contender!
I hope someone brings Expound back — as I said, I would happily pay for it as a premium theme!

We won’t be bringing back Expound – it had a good, long life, but it’s dated in a number of ways, and it’s time to make room for fresher designs – but I’ll pass along the feedback about what you liked about it for consideration in future theme designs.
