Help finding ad plugin please!
-
Hello
I am in the process of redesigning a website for a client using WordPress. One of the things they do on their site is allow a band to take over all the adverts, news articles, twitter etc for a set period of time.
I was wondering if there was a plugin which will allow me to take over the unused space at the side of the pages (as per the http://www.imdb.com site) and turn them into adverts?
I don’t care about any other features, just that one.
Does anyone know of such a plugin? Or another way to do it?
Thanks
Ian

That site is not hosted here by WordPress.COM and we cannot help you. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Thanks for the incredibly heavy handed and rude reply. How do you know the site is not hosted at wordpress.com? Nowhere in my original post did I mention the name of the site. In fact the only site I mentioned was IMDB and that was to give an example of the type of advert I was trying to describe. Or do you only allow examples which are hosted by you too?
For your information, I was NOT posting in the wrong support forum, but I wont be hosting the site with you now after that response.
I mistakenly thought that posting a new topic asking for help on the support forum for the platform I was using (yes, .com not .org) would be a good idea. I guess I was wrong.

The only advertising program at WordPress.COM is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/No blogger initiated advertising for driving traffic to third party sites is allowed. PPC is not allowed. Affiliate marketing banners and any and all advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.COM are not allowed.
Here’s what gets a blog suspended:

Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. You are confusing WordPress.ORG and WordPress.COM. For that type of functionality you’d need a self-hosted site running on a paid web hosting service.

Nowhere in my original post did I mention the name of the site.
Exactly. You failed to provide the required and relevant URL.

wow. what an amazing outpouring of hate for a simple question. I guess I’ll just go elsewhere.
