Hi there,
Provided you did not create the post in the new Beep Beep Boop editor where it’s saved only on your browser, and is not auto-saved to the servers for your blog you may be able to recover a lost post or page.If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash
To locate draft POSTS Dashboard > Posts > All Post > Drafts
http://angelacolville.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=postTo locate draft PAGES Dashboard > Pages> All Pages > Drafts
http://angelacolville.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=page(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
If you cannot locate a revision or restore from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.
I recommend:
1. Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
2. Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New
3. Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
4. Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
5. Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
6. Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/ -
re: Front page error message
Nothing Found
It seems we cannot find what you are looking for. Perhaps try a search? There is nothing wrong with your site. By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post not a page the front page error message and searchbox that appears on every new WordPress.COM blog will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
For creating a post see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/#publish-a-new-post
For creating a page see here

holy shit I wrote a whole blog entry and “saved it” it is gone. Shit. You guys have been so helpful but I am totally overwhelmed. Giving up for now. I heard this site was so easy – look at all you have to do GAH! ;) I am sooooooooooooooooo sad my entry is gone. WTH.
-
I’m sorry you experienced this. :( It has happened to me too in the past and I know how you feel.
-
Thank you. That is so caring. I really appreciate your help and advice. I am overwhelmed and am going to take a break from this. So discouraging!
-
I’m truly sorry that you are discouraged. Who wouldn’t be, given what you went through here as a first time blogger? I hope you return after you take a break.
-
Thank you so much. We shall see – apparently it is not as easy as I have been told! Will see when I am up for the work to get back on – thank you so much you have been so kind.

Look, angela, it’s probably not gone. You probably just haven’t confirmed your account via email; your posts don’t show up until you do.

Hi angelacolville,
Good news! Your post is not gone, it’s just in draft form. You can access it here:
https://angelacolville.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit
Once it all looks the way you want it to you can click the blue publish button and it will show up on your site.
Let me know if you have any trouble with that, or if you have more questions and I’ll be happy to walk you through it step by step.
It can be overwhelming to get started, but we are happy to hold your hand as long as you need it :)

@timethief @ lizthefair THANK YOU BOTH for you caring kind help – I must say I am very touched and impressed by all of your assistance. I am still navigating my way around but I feel that I already have friends in the arena and am humbled and grateful. I do have a question before I hit that blue publish button – does that mean it is published only here on WordPress? If I want to publish it elsewhere does that “option” pop up? Wow. Rookie here! ;) Thank you both again. I have a million more questions but I need to condense them and enter them into the proper forum – do not want to be a thread jacker (new to me as well but didn’t look right thanks @timethief) and not wear out my welcome!! Take care both of you thank you.

WordPress.com only publishes it to WordPress. If you want to share it elsewhere, enable Sharing on the dashboard Settings page. If you want to post it somewhere else, recite it on the radio, or turn it into a book, you can do that, but WP doesn’t provide the platform to do that.
-
does that mean it is published only here on WordPress?
Since you don’t have publicize set up yet, yes, publishing will only publish the post to your blog.
When you are ready learn about new stuff, you can learn about your options for sharing your posts to Facebook, Twitter etc. at the links below:
