HELP! font switches back to default! I paid for upgrade!

  • Unknown's avatar

    This is very very distressing.

Once in a while, me or my readers go to my website and the home page displays the default fonts instead of the custom fonts i chose.

It takes reloading the page or going to another one to bring back the right font, which completely ruins the visit of my site.

I paid for the upgrade and this happens both on Safari and Firefox.

I am expecting a lot of visits soon so this needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

I really hope someone from wordpress will come to my rescue.

The theme is manifest, the custom fonts i chose are raleway and muse sans

There are literally dozens of things that can cause this and most of it is out of wordpress’s control. Things like a timeout on the typekit font servers or perhaps they are experiencing very heavy use, a problem with a proxy server somewhere between the viewer and the font server (ISPs use invisible proxy servers to lower bandwidth usage and to help speed things up), sections of the internet heavily loaded or overloaded.

The above are some of the reasons they will have to drag me kicking and screaming to “cloud” computing.

I just manually replaced the font names in the CSS code (with my limited knowledge of css, not sure if i did right).

I hope this will solve the issue.

I cannot afford for people to go on my site and be displayed one font on one page and another one on the next one.

If the problem persists, I’ll have to ask for a refund and take my business elsewhere.

    Thanks for the reply tho

You will find the same problems with web based fonts wherever you go, which is why I do not use them. No web font service is immune to this, none of them. One client I had wanted to use Google fonts, and there was the same issue. It is not a wordpress problem. You see the same issue with people that host their images offsite at somewhere like flickr or other image sharing sites and then come here and want to know why their images aren’t loading in their sites.

You can most certainly get a refund if it has been less that 30 days, but that will also take away the CSS editing.
