Help for commenters!

Where’s the plug-in for helping commenters correctly format their comments?
I comment on a fair number of site, unfortunately with WordPress it is often royal PITA!
Why is there not a simple method (see http://joannenova.com.au/ comment box as an example) whereby users like me can be assured that the comments are correctly formatted *and previewed* before publishing?
Surely if this one aspect that, if available, should be pushed and site admin advised that it with improve users appreciation of their site with it’s ease of use.
Having to use bloody tags, and having to remember how they work, is a regressionary step like going back to a DOS version of WordPerfect and fighting the software to get the printout to look like something that is on the screen.
Please, please, please WAKE-UP and join the twenty-first century, if you don’t someone else will!!
And where is your help for commenters?
If it exists it’s WELL hidden. Where’s the basic help for how to comment, what tags are and how they change the look of the text? Where is a place *in WordPress* where wannbe commenters can test out their formatting? There is none!

And yes I’m posting similar comments (RANT) on Disqus, Blogspot, etc., (when I can find their help pages).
IMO the first one the that *as standard* employs methods to help the commenter will become the market leader.

  • Is there a WordPress.com site that I can help you with? http://joannenova.com.au/ is not connected to WordPress.com.

We’re only able to offer support for our sites, not those using the WordPress installation.

Is there a WordPress.com site that I can help you with? you ask….
Yes all WordPress blog sites. I, as a mere commenter, am asking you to improve the BASIC functionality of your software, and provide a simple HELP site explaining how to do simple formatting and a place for the novice commenters to test their skills. Or is that beyond WordPress’s coding ability? As a mere commenter I understand that I have no voice in your closed community but can you people at WordPress not see how awful your software is for the novice and ordinary commenter?

My point in citing http;//joannenova·com·au/, is that it has (IMO) a much better interface for commenters on blogs than anything provided by the WordPress standard dumb comment box. I am using her site as an example of the way to go TO IMPROVE yourselves. Why should anyone have to remember any coding tags when commenting? Ordinary people are not coders. Are those that do the coding unable to see that improvements are needed? Or is it that WordPress coders are unable to create a better interface for commenters?

These thoughts all came about after the zillionth novice commenter asked how to use bold, italics, embed graphics, link to another site, etc., and I agreed it was truly awful but I wondered why it has never been improved for commenters in the 10 years I’ve been commenting. From now on when the novice asks “Where is the basic help for these things?”, I’ll inform them “WordPress don’t do help for mere commenters, that is beneath them — your not important enough!”
It also makes me wonder if the providers of blogsite software (like WordPress) ever look at real blogsites to see how well or not their software is being used, and whether it can be improved. From your reply I strongly suspect not, certainly if you only wish to comment on blogsites!
Without improvements WordPress WILL lose in the blogging popularity stakes once other providers see the light.
