  You only created this account an hour before posting here in the forum for free sites hosted at WordPress.com. New sites here are private until they are launched. If you have some other WordPress.com site you wish to make private you’d need to log in to the correct account and then follow the instructions in the link below. Note this applies to WordPress.com sites. If you are talking about a site hosted elsewhere using the wordpress software then a plugin would be required to make the site private.
