Help formatting my poetry
-
The first thing I have to say is that I’m not a computer genius. I read the help section for writing and formatting poetry, and I must just be missing something or not understanding something. Poetry requires unique formatting–formatting that if not applied could change the whole structure of a poem and turn a good poem bad. I need there to be line breaks and white spaces in certain areas of my poems, but they are just not showing up. This is very important to me. Can somebody please explaing step by step how to format my poetry. I’ll give you a specific example of what I mean:
Roses are red,
violets are blue.
Sugar is sweet,
I love you.Obviously, I take no credit for that poem:) But, assume I want there to be a blank line between lines 2 and 3. Please tell me exactly how to do that. The strange thing is, sometimes the poems come out exactly how I type/format them, but other time they don’t. I just consistency and I want my poems to be formatted properly. Please help

I typed “poetry” into the support page search box and came up with this for you.

Yes, maybe you didn’t understand me correctly. I have already been to that page and tried it. But my stuff is still not formatting properly. Either I’m too stupid to follow simple directions, or something is wrong with the site. Anyway, thanks for at least looking into the matter. Peace and Love.

Can you give us a link to where this is happening (where the line breaks and such are not working?

If you happen to be on Windows, I might suggest that you get Windows Live Writer, the free blog client software. It is much more “MS Word” like and you can do all your formatting and such in it and then publish your poems directly from WLW.
If you are on Mac, there is Ecto, which is not free, but at around $20 it doesn’t break the bank either.

@thepoetdaniel:
a) Please paste the URL of your blog when asking questions here. Or, better, make your username link to your blog (Users > Personal Settings: scroll down to Account Details, paste blog URL in the Website field, click Save Changes).
b) In the Visual editor, you press enter for a blank line and shift-enter for a line break. Just make sure the Format tool (row 2 tool 1) is set to Paragraph.
