help from volunteers on .com
-
I would just like to comment that I have a blog on wordpress.org, and I often need to ask a question. I have noticed that the volunteers on .com are SO much nicer and helpful in their
answers than on .org!! Most of you on this forum realize that we are not all
” egg heads” whereas on the wordpress .org, forum, I am afraid to ask a question as I will
get a ” snotty ” answer and I am made to feel really stupid.
Just wanted to hand out a few well deserved accolades to you. Thanks, -
From me, charade, thanks. I have a self-hosted blog as well as my wordpress.com blog, and know what you mean about .org.

Yes, I too am impressed by the patience and stamina of some of the volunteers on the .com forums.
-
I too have noticed this stark distinction. My hat is off to the volunteers here for their almost unfailing courtesy, even in the face of occasionally extreme churlishness.

Like thesacredpath I also have a wordpress install and I have other blogs on other hosts. I’m well aware that the turn around time for getting answers on this forum knocks the socks off other blogging support forums. It’s a pleasure working with other volunteers on this forum who deliver answers quickly and politely. So from me – thanks to all who appreciate receiving help from their fellow bloggers. And, particular thanks to those who say thanks.:-)

i think the difference is that many of the volunteers here learnt blogging from scratch; they understand and have experienced the time when everything about wp.com seems so new and difficult. i knew timethief when she was a n00b in blogging but now she knows more stuff than i do. ;)
also, the regulars make it a point to prioritise politeness and it sets an example for others to follow likewise. volunteers here have different levels of blogging knowledge, but for the most part we don’t get ridiculed if we get an answer wrong.
that’s why i love hanging around here. people are mostly nice, polite and fun. and they have manners! thanks. =)

I think sulz is pretty much spot on. I remember when I started blogging here on wp.com I was confused by what everything does and I spent many hours just trying things out. I guess it’s just trying to help others with what you learned yourself. :)
