Help:: Full article text is showing up on multiple types of 'archive' pages..
-
Hello: When checking my site content on Siteliner.com it’s showing as if my site has “duplicate content”, but it’s actually finding the same article on a number of my pages within my site. Some of the full article text is showing up on multiple types of ‘archive’ pages, for example category and tag pages.
I was told I needed to: “set your theme so category and tag pages only contain links to the blog posts and not the full post content.”
How do I do this??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Some of the full article text is showing up on multiple types of ‘archive’ pages, for example category and tag pages.
The setting here > Settings > Reading is only for the RSS Feed summary and does not affect the posts.
If you want to display only excerpts on the front page of the blog followed by read more links, you can insert “the more tag” into each post prior to publication.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/Alternatively, you can switch to using a theme that automatically displays front page excerpts. This is a list of active themes on WordPress.com that use the excerpt instead of full post content. Here are the themes that do provide that feature > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/theme-with-automatic-excerpts?replies=13#post-1396410
To control the number of posts displayed on the front page go to > Dashboard > Settings > Reading
Blog pages show at most _ posts

As we bloggers do not have metadata access we cannot use robot.txt to block search engines. However, the pages you do point to ought to have automatic robot.txt entered. Does Google Webmaster Tools give any details about what the critical issue is with your site’s robots.txt file?

Thank you for your help! I did go to Settings> Reading and then “For each article in a feed, show:” and I switched it to “Summary” instead of “Full Article”. Should this change help me or I should change the theme as you said above?

No. Read what I posted above again closely please.

Know that in most themes what is displayed on the front page (or main page for posts in the blog) is also what will automatically display on the dynamic Archives, Categories and Tags pages. Therefore, you can proceed to create excerpts only on the front page of the blog as a I described above.

Thank you… but I don’t see this:
Settings > Reading is only for the RSS Feed summary and does not affect the posts.
Is this seen in Wp.com sites also?
Regarding the “more tags”… I’ve tried adding it to the Posts I’ve already created, and after publishing the revision, I don’t see any break in text. Is this normal? I read the details about the more tags and it says to insert the break when initially creating a new post. Do they have to be new?

And no, I’ve never seen if the Google Webmaster Tools give any details about what the critical issue is with my site’s robots.txt file.. I’ll check.

No. Edit all the posts and insert the more tag and then click update.

Ok thank you. Sorry for being a pain… you can see I’m not a WP expert, lol.
I went ahead and added a More Tag to all my Posts.
Do I still need to find this:: Settings > Reading is only for the RSS Feed summary and does not affect the posts.
-
Using the summary setting for feeds is not required when you enter the more tag into your posts.
