It took me weeks to find my way around WordPress.com. You’ve only had an account for half an hour. Look at this here:-
And then just start writing some posts or uploading some images as only then will you begin to see your new site taking shape.
And if you have questions return to the forum giving more specifics of what you need help with.

Hi
I had someone in the office who built my website on WordPress and now she has left. I have used her login to give me access and I’m trying to find my way around. But I can’t even find my website on WordPress. I just need to change a price on one of pages.
Any clues? -

I’m just quoting what you said, hence the quotation marks. You said:
I had someone in the office who built my website on WordPress
But to be specific: your site is powered by WordPress, but not hosted here at WordPress.com. This forum and its staff members can only help with sites hosted by WordPress.com.
For assistance regarding your side, you should go to https://wordpress.org/support/
(You may have to create a WordPress.org account to post there.)For more information on the difference between self-hosted WordPress sites (like yours) and WordPress.com-hosted sites, please read:

@airodyssey It gets to the point that we can no longer take addresses linked to names at face value and will have to do a time-consuming “whois” of every possible variation of every name straight away as very few people ever give the correct address they need help with without being asked!!

@themagicrobot: I hear ya. In case it helps: I like to use ismyblogworking.com to figure out if a WP site is hosted here or not. (If it does NOT say “wordpress.com” anywhere on the results page, it means it’s self-hosted.)

I’v found this.
User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.phpDoes that mean I’m on WordPress.com?

@dickon5 Just to try and clear up your confusion once and for all you’re currently in the WordPress.com forum using login details for a new account you’ve set up here on WordPress.com but the particular site where you want to change prices is with 123Reg.co.uk and using the WordPress.org software. That will have different login details. WordPress.com and WordPress.org sound similar but operate very differently. You need the WordPress.org forums for support. @airodyssey gave you the link above.

Think I should have stayed at home today. Brain has exploded!!!

As mentioned, there are 2 versions of WordPress.
What happens here at WordPress.com is different than the self hosted version of WordPress that you’re currently using. This guide outlines those differences:
