Help!! I can't find my blog posts

  • Unknown's avatar

I just switched servers from bluehost to cloudfare but can no longer access my old wordpress blog posts. Shouldn’t they still be stored in wordpress even though I have redirected to a different server?

There is a big difference between WordPress.com (here) and the WordPress.org software used on sites hosted elsewhere such as BlueHost. The content of your site would have been stored in the servers of whichever company was hosting your site. If that was BlueHost then that is where the content would have been. It would have been up to you to take a backup if you planned to move your site elsewhere. You need to ask BlueHost if they still have your content but if you’ve closed your account there that may no longer be the case. What is the address of your domain? Depending on how long you’d had it there is always a remote chance that some content could be retrieved from the WayBack Machine.

    Hi there,
I would be able to give you better advice if I knew the domain.

just switched servers from bluehost to cloudfare

If you are using Open Source WordPress you would need all the files that was on the old server including the database.
If you mapped your domain to WordPress.com you would need to update the nameservers.

Shouldn’t they still be stored in wordpress

The information of a site is stored on the server under the domain directory.
If the domain is moved to a new host (server) the domain will point to a different directory. For the content to be viewed that must be moved to.

You can learn more about the differences between WordPress.com and the Open Source version WordPress.org here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org

The WordPress.org forums is here: https://wordpress.org/support/

Hope this clears it up a bit
