HELP! I can't migrate my son's blog to Go Daddy without an FTP

Someone please help me. My son is very sick and cannot emotionally deal with losing his blog, but it’s costing him $26 a month via Automattic, which I understand is a WP host. He can’t afford it. There is no FTP for wordpress.com. The folks at Go Daddy told me there is no way he can ever migrate this to another host – ever – without an FTP. Is there someone I can call? Is it possible to go to some site to lower the price for him? The other very odd thing is that there is no “tools” icon anywhere on his site. I think it may have been hacked, which has happened a lot via a particular person. I don’t know if I’m even on a WordPress site.

There are no monthly charges here at WordPress.COM. There is a domain mapping upgrade with private registration that costs $26 per year, not per month.

I looked at my son’s charges yesterday. He’s been charged $26 in June, twice in July, once in August and that’s it. It says there is no credit card on file Also, there is no “Tools” icon on his dashboard. I am strongly thinking his blog is totally screwed up by a hacker. My ex-husband has been doing this to me for years. I don’t know if I’m on the right page – or if my son is actually being charged. He may just think he his. I’ll have him look at his bank statement. Yesterday his traffic was coming exclusively from India, where my ex lives. Today it’s all from the US. I contacted my ex hoping he’d be a good guy this time and help out with this. Oops!

What is the URL of your son’s site beginning with http?
That will help the staff help you and find the charges quicker, I am guessing the charges are not on your account, so the URL is needed to find the charges
The staff have a good record of helping with this

The last charge I see associated with this account went through in July and was for the renewal of the domain spencerandchuckatthemovies.com.
You can plug in the other charges to our look up tool here to see what they’re for and contact our store team if they’re fraudulent:
I also want to clear up a few things from your original post. First, we do not charge anything on a monthly basis. I definitely want to find out what’s happening there and refund those charges for you.
Second, while we don’t allow FTP access here on WordPress.com, you own your content and you can definitely take it with you if you decide you need to leave. We even have a comprehensive guide to transferring your site to a self hosted WordPress install here:
