Help! I can't read my posts when I'm typing them.

When I am writing a post I can type in the box where the post title goes and the text is readable, but when I attempt to write where the actual body of the text goes I cannot read my writing–it is invisible. I know that something is there because I can highlight the area where I should be able to see the writing, and when highlighted the text is visible, but just not when I write it. Also, there is a red line under the (invisible) writing to show when I have typed something ungrammatical. Have I changed the font color to white? And if so how do I change it back?
When I hit “preview” the text shows up in black writing, but outside of preview I can’t see it.

1. How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.
2. Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
3.Which browser and version of it are you using?
4. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
5. Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.

1. I connect using my Virgin Mobil wireless connector; I bought it at Radishack for my laptop. I plug it in to my computer.( I hope I’m describing this the right way.)

What is the URL of the site you are talking about?
Typically this is something that only afflicts self-hosted installs and has not been seen at wordpress.COM in over 3 years as far as I can remember. Of course wordpress just did the 3.3 update, so there is always a possibility they resurrected that bug.

The url of my site is http://homespunwisdom.wordpress.com. I didn’t install anything on my computer; I log in on the net.
I only have the problem in Firefox but it works fine in internet explorer. I found out it would work in internet explorer when I followed timethief’s suggestions.
Is there there anything you know of that can cause this kind of glitch?

@ladyhomespun – “I only have the problem in Firefox but it works fine in internet explorer.” Amazing! I’ve been experiencing your same problem. Have tried posting in Visual Mode in three different browsers, including a fresh install of Firefox, and still nothing. So, reading of your success and hopeful, I tried Internet Explorer; granted, it’s an ancient version (1995-2001) but it’s the only version I’ve got. Dang thing wouldn’t even let me log on!

The fact that I can type in the Subject line but not body box in Visual Mode tells me there’s a glitch.
Unfortunately I’ve not found anyone to assist on the technical end.

This is a long shot, but have you checked your browser settings to see what colour you’re typing? Maybe you have it set to white?
