Help! I lost over 1000 words of work from the last few hours.
-
I made a bunch of edits to a post today after 10:40 — over a thousand words were added — but I just came back to the document after a restart and all the edits were gone. They’re not in my ‘history.’ Can this be recovered?

The site is: https://presidentialpoliticsblog.wordpress.com/
The post, which is still in draft form, is called: South Carolina 2020 Primary: Prediction
I’ve been re-writing it rather than relying on a recovery miracle.

Is the missing content available under revisions? https://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/page-post-revisions/
-
Yes, I checked there first. In the past, I’ve had similar scares, but the work was immediately recoverable through that feature.
The last logged revisions had happened hours earlier, around the 1100th word of a post that I know got to about 2400 words. My best guess right now is that the auto-save feature let me down. It’s strange. I even have a saved image from the original version in my WordPress files, even though the post itself lost those images like I have never created them. I’ll try to more frequently manually save in the future.

That appears to be what happened. All we have are the revisions.
Were you writing this in one of the apps or on WordPress.com itself?
-
I was writing on WordPress.com itself.
I pressed on, finished the piece, and just published it. (If you have an interest in politics, here it is! https://presidentialpoliticsblog.wordpress.com/2020/02/28/south-carolina-2020-primary-prediction/)
Thanks for taking the time to consider my problem, but I’ll just be more careful about manually saving in the future.
