Hi there, I run an member association. One member left and transferred a blog to me. I then transferred that blog to a new username. However, we cannot gain access to that blog now. I transferred it to the username of ‘Education’ but when I went to login with that user name and password the blog wasn’t there.

The blog transferred to me was tasasociologyofeducation.wordpress.com and I then transferred the blog to ‘Education’. I thought that I could then login to http://sociologyofeducation.tasa.org.au/wp-admin/ with the username of Education and see the tasasociologyofeducation.wordpress.com but it is not there.

I then put in tasasociologyofeducation.wordpress.com/wp-admin and tried to login, to now avail. The blog tasasociologyofeducation.wordpress.com is now sitting out there with no way of being accessed and updated.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sally

    Hello Sally
http://sociologyofeducation.tasa.org.au/ is not hosted here at WordPress.Com.
http://theaustraliansociolgocicalassociation.wordpress.com is hosted here at WordPress.Com.

There are two separate sets of login credentials required for the two separate sites. I recommend you try logging in with whatever email address was used to transfer the blog to you is.

If that fail, you can try to recover the account access by following the steps in:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

    good luck

    Hi Dave,

I am sorry for any confusion I have caused by including so many URL addresses. The WordPress.com account I am trying to recover is tasasociologyofeducation.wordpress.com. The password recovery link doesn't help me in my case. Can you please assist me with regaining access to tasasociologyofeducation.wordpress.com.

    Many thanks,

    Sally

    Hi Sally
Thanks for the clarification! Is the person who transferred the tasasociologyofeducation.wordpress.com page to you still available? If so, you might see if they are still able to log in with their email address. If not, then you will have to follow the procedures in
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

I have tagged this thread so the good WordPress folks will take a look, they have immense powers that are beyond what i as a volunteer can do.

    Hi there,

Do you own the WordPress.com username, education? That account was created 11 years ago, so unless you are the person who created the account, and have access to the email address associated with that account, you won’t be able to access that account.

The site is in that username account as it’s supposed to be, given that you transferred it to that account.

To access that site you need to log out of the theaustraliansociolgocicalassociation username account, and log back in as the education username account.

If you do not own the education username account it essentially means you transferred ownership of your site to a complete stranger, so the site now belongs to whoever owns that account. This why the warnings in the big red box on the transfer screen says to make sure you enter the correct username.
