HELP! I tried a new theme and it deleted all my photos

This is an emergency. I’ve spent years building up a blog, my own words and my own photos. I haven’t entered a new post in a long time, yesterday I wrote a new post, using the block method, which I had some problems getting to post. I took a break and came back to it this morning. I thought my years old them might need an updating, so I tried a new theme. HOWEVER< IT REWROTE MY ENTIRE SITE as far as I can see. Removed all my photos and made it look like some unknown ad site. I am freaking out. Can anyone help revert to all the years of work I had there ten minutes ago?

OK, half asleep, I see it only changed my main header photo – sorry – this is why I shouldn’t get right on the internet from a sound sleep – however I would still like to know how to revert to my previous theme. This is a years old theme but I was naively thinking that any change I made, I would be able to undo. Is this accurate and how would I do this? TIA

If you know the name of your previous theme:
The previous theme may be activated again as described in the Activating a Theme section of the themes support page. See also the sections Video – How to Switch Themes and
My Content and Switching Themes of the Themes support page.
If you don’t remember the name of the previous theme:
On a free site you can see the last 20 events, including theme changes, in the Activity Log (https://wordpress.com/activity-log/) of your site. Paid plans allow you to view activity for the last 30 days. See the response by Staff member @fstat in the topic My theme change. -
Hi @listentotheanimalsblog, it looks like you switched from the Hero theme to the Lovecraft theme. The Hero theme was retired, If you do not find it in a search at My Sites > Design > Themes, then the theme is no longer available to be used.
