Help, I’m having trouble editing my links.

Today, I just made a new affiliate and I wanted to add a link to their site on my affiliate category. But every time I save it, the link is set to Blogroll. What the heck? I triple checked and made sure I uncheck the blogroll box, and checked the affiliates box instead, but it’s still saved as blogroll.

If you are referring to a free hosted wordpress.com blog that has a url like this http://myblog.wordpress.com then please read this carefully: http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

types of blogs that are not allowed at wordpress.com
Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (”Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). To be clear, people writing book or movie reviews and linking them to Amazon, or people linking to their own products on Etsy do NOT fall into this category.

It’s not a marketing blog, it’s a gaming news site. I was able to add an affiliate blog before, but today, no matter what I do, they end up in my blogroll category.

    Please read this https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-read-me-first-before-posting?replies=1

Now look ate the url for your blog. If it does not end in wordpress.com then you are in the wrong support forum. This forum is ONLY for bloggers who have free hosted wordpress.com blogs and the restrictions on affiliate programs apply ONLY to wordpress.com bloggers.

If you are self hosting software that you downloaded free from wordpress.org then you are in the wrong forum, and you must go here for help http://wordpress.org/support because the two run on different software and have different policies.

Sir, my blog is wordpress.com, and I just read the types of blog not allowed, but my affiliate does not fall into any of those categories. It’s a regular gaming news site. Here’s the link.

    http://www.wiids.co.uk/

    Here is my blog

    handheldwii.wordpress.com

Please look to the right and you’ll see that I originally already have an affiliate of the same kind linked, but now, I can’t set my new affiliate into that category. Are you saying there’s another restriction to us using wordpress.com, or does the address I posted fall into the spam blog category? Both sites are essentially the same thing.

Like it was mentioned above by Time thief, affilate links
    break the WordPress.COM TOS
