Help! I'm new. Expound theme

I’m very new to this and am trying to make my blog with Expound theme. I was told to install the theme to help me use it, but once I downloaded, it is just a bunch of jibberish to me. Right now my page won’t let me do links with photos like Expound shows. Is there a guide to this that I missed ?

The first thing to know is that you cannot use that theme, or ANY theme from an external site, on a wordpress.com blog, because of our security constraints. You can only use the themes from teh dashboard themes page.

OK. I must have missed something b/c the Expound theme comes up in a theme search inside my test WordPress.com blog and activates.

Indeed. But themes downloaded from the internet are for WordPress.ORG. The themes we can use here on WordPress.COM have been specially adapted for use on this platform.
There are a number of themes we can use here on wp.COM which were first or later available for wp.ORG. We on .COM cannot download and use any themes from the internet.

OK you lost me. If I bring up the Original Poster’s site it comes up with stock WordPress.com text at the bottom and the words “The Expound Theme”… I guess we can agree that bobbol is definitely missing something here!!

You must put your images into posts in order for them to display as the demo theme shows.
To show the 5 featured posts, you must tag them with a word (for example, “featured”) so the posts will be displayed on top of your blog.
