Help Importing Data

  Hi,

  I was hosting my sites on godaddy though I had used wordpress as the platform. I am canceling my hosting account so need to move my databases to the free site for now with wordpress but am struggling to do so. All of my websites are currently down and don’t have access to the wp-admin board. I used mysql or whatever it is called to download the databases but I can’t just upload them to the wordpress site – when I try nothing happens.

  Please can anyone advise/help?

  Databases cannot be uploading into wordpress.COM sites. There is no FTP access here.

  oops! “uploading” was meant to be uploaded.

  At present there is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

  I can’t get into the dashboard of the self-hosted one. So I can’t go that route of exporting from there.

  So does that mean I’m just going to lose everything? :'(

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, support docs and support forums, and many people get confused about the two.

  The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/

  This is wordpress.COM support. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
  (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
  (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.

  Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.com/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.
