help! inconsistent margins with tarski theme!!
-
Hi there, I have posted three test posts to a new blog with the tarski theme. One formats the text to the column while the other two overrun and render text invisible. Please advise as I really like the theme and do not want to be forced to abandon it.
Related question, why do I see no html when I choose code view?
Thanks a lot!!
btw I am working on ccfi.wordpress.com

Opera and the editor wordpress uses, TinyMCE do not play nice together especially when it comes to text wrapping. Some versions of IE also do not play nice with TinyMCE (5, 5.5 and 6).
If you are on Windows, I would recommend Firefox as it has the least problems. If you are on Mac, use either Firefox or Camino. If you are on Linux, I really don’t know what to recommend for a browser.
The other possibility is to use an offline blog editor such as those in this post by Timethief on her WordPress Resources blog: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2007/10/26/offline-blog-editors-reviews/ .
My suggestion is the offline editor as you are going to have the fewest problems in the long run.

is this problem common to all wordpress themes? I am concerned as I want to invite 20-30 fellow authors and cannot control what browsers they choose to use…or want to make it as SIMPLE as possible…and this is not so simple.
Thanks for your help!

Yes, it isn’t theme dependent.
Some of the offline editors are free.
For Windows, Windows Live Writer, BlogDesk and Qumana.
For Mac, Qumana is the best of the free offline editors.
You could suggest they download one of the free editors. Again, I’m not sure what is available for Linux.

Oh yes! When I resave posts in firefox, they are formatted ok. Not so btw in IE7. I think safari on Mac is ok in this respect.
I think I will recommend firefox despite the platform, as well as offer your suggestions for free editors but worry this additional consideration will make the blog less popular to use, and thus less useful to this particular populace.
So basically, we have to consider the editor in wordpress. Is that so with all free blog offerings?
Thanks again. Really helpful!

Safari on Mac will strip out the paragraph spacing and give you one long paragraph instead of separate paragraphs. You can fix that by turning off the visual rich text editor (users > your profile and uncheck “use visual rich text editor” and then click save. Of course you won’t have the tools that are available in the visual editor.
You’re very welcome.
For the last couple months, some people with IE7 and also Firefox have been seeing problems with post formatting as well, but it seems to to completely random as to who will have the issues and who will not. I have no idea when that is going to be sorted out and don’t know if it is a problem with TinyMCE or whether it is a problem with the wordpress implementation of it.
That is one of the reasons I suggested an offline editor as they are not part of wordpress and as such, aren’t as susceptible to changes at wordpress.
