Help! Losing hours of work!

  • Unknown's avatar

For some reason, when I logged in today, I had lost several days’ worth of work on one of my unpublished posts! Autosave had been working just fine last week, and I had returned several times to the post before the weekend, but today, a ton of my work is gone. I need to find a revision from late last week, but for some reason, the only revisions available are from June 14! Can someone please help?

  • Howdy –

We can certainly take a look for the missing work. What is the post title?

Double check you don’t have your WordPress.com account opened up on another device as that could be preventing the draft from synching across.

Thank you! The draft post title is “Forget Me Not: Alissa Guernsey.” The draft was in an open tab on my computer for several days, and auto save was working fine. My computer shut itself down over the weekend, and this morning, much of it was gone.

  • @laine333 I’m afraid the connection would eventually time out if you had the tab open relying on autosave.

I checked and was not able to find anything past June 14, either. If you can open the same editing tab, it’s *possible* your browser would have some local information stored.

If not though, my best recommendation would be to use “save draft” going forward anytime you take a break from writing. Sorry we can’t do more in this case!
