  I have no clue what happened , but I was trying out domain names and then my computer shut down. When I opened it back up today and went back to Word Press it asked me for my email, a user name and password. When I put those in…it looked like it signed me up for a domain name I never wanted and some type of Free account. can you get me out of this so i can start all over or take my domain name out, so I can set it up like i want? Thank you, Steph

  Hi there,

  First, could you verify the URL for the domain name that you did not want?

  I will “modlook” this post so a staff member can come in and verify what happened in your account. Someone will check this post as soon as they can.

  In the meantime, while logged in, you can check your purchases page to see if you inadvertently purchased anything.

  Hi there,

  It appears you’ve already created three separate sites in this account, so most likely you clicked on a proceed button before your computer shut down.

  You have not been charged for anything, though, as you had not reached the point where you select a plan and provide your credit card info.

  All sites on WordPress.com start with a free URL, so to proceed from here go to My Site ->Switch Site and select the site in your account that you want to use. Then go to My Site ->Plans to add a plan, and from there to My Site ->Domains ->Add to register a custom domain. The custom domain will be used on top of the free address, so the free address will still be there, it just won’t be visible to visitors to your site.

  If you want to delete the extra sites you created, go to My Sites ->Switch Site and select the site you want to delete. Then click on Settings. The Delete Site option is at the bottom of that page.

  It might help if, even before you upgrade, you work through our tutorial page linked below. That will give you a much better idea of how everything works:
