Help me cancel a domain, no refund necessary
-
I cannot navigate to a link that allows me to delete the domain <www.otsp2012.com>. I’m not concerned about getting a refund, I just can’t use that particular domain name because the reference to the year 2012 makes it useless.
I just need to cancel that domain. Can you achieve this for me?

Hi otspfcpl,
Since your domain otsp2012.com was just renewed, what I would recommend is that you register a new domain (one without a year) and use the new domain as your primary domain, but keep otsp2012.com as an active domain through the next year. That way, anyone who has bookmarked or linked to otsp2012.com will still be able to reach your site, and you can phase it out next year. This will also help with search engine results.
If you aren’t using the site attached to the otsp2012.com domain now, however, I am happy to cancel it for you. Just let me know.

I do need to cancel the domain otsp2012 now, for institutional reasons because our organization is archiving stuff, and the 2012 site now is using the link http://fcplwarmthothersuns.wordpress.com/ , which is what I had the domain pointing to before.
Right now, I’ve got the domain pointing to this year’s site, http://otsp2013.wordpress.com/ . I want to use that URL this year, and not have a redirect to another domain.
I am probably going to register/buy a domain pretty soon with a diff name, but for now, let’s just lose the current <otsp2012> domain. It’s just too confusing. Thank you for responding, Jackie.

Hi otspfcpl,
Sounds good. I’ve gone ahead and cancelled the domain for you and went ahead and issued a refund since you were having issues doing so on your own.
Please be sure to let us know if you need any additional assistance in the future.
