Help Me Purge hcwg.org and members.hcwg.org from wordpress.com

Somehow through WooCommerce.com I’ve ended up with wordpress.com seemingly trying to host my subject websites. This is NOT what I want. Please help me purge any and all reference to these websites on WordPress.com.

Regarding WooCommerce.com, I am not sure why but it appears as though WC is redirecting login to their platform via wordpress.com. I am not a fan of that approach. If it’s the only way, then make sure I can still log in to WC, but that there is no hook to my hcwg.org web sites.

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

I found how to remove my user account, and all the stuff with it. I just want to remove the domain names I own, entered by me unknowingly in the user profile, and are not hosted on wordpress.com infrastructure.

  • Hello, it appears that the two sites are listed as sites connected to your WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin.

You can disconnect both sites from your WordPress.com account by going to their general settings in WordPress.com; there’s a “Manage connection” button at the base of the general settings page where you can disconnect them.

For reference, Jetpack have a guide for this process:

    Homepage

With both sites disconnected you should be able to close your WordPress.com account per our guide:

    Close Your Account

https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/hcwg.org this page will not let me delete the site. I get an error message:

“User cannot delete jetpack site via API.”

  • @hcwg2015 are you trying to completely delete the sites, or just disconnect them from this account?

If you’re trying to disconnect them, these steps should work:

    Homepage

You shouldn’t need to use the “delete site” option, which only works with sites we host.

If you’re trying to actually take the entire sites down and get rid of them, you would need to do that through your host, though it’s not a bad idea to disconnect Jetpack, first.

On wordpress.com, with me logged in, And under My Site, Settings > General, there is no Connections section.

The JetPack instruction says once disconnected, my not-hosted-on-wordpress.com domain will no longer be listed on my WordPress.com profile.

    it is still listed.
I don’t have JetPack installed on my domain website.

Again, I think this is a corrupted data set and needs to be hand edited in the database.

Reading your first post again, it looks like they were established because of the WooCommerce connection. Certain WooCommerce extensions (like WooCommerce Payments) require your site to be connected to your WordPress.com account:

    https://woocommerce.com/document/payments/

Other extensions also require Jetpack to be installed and activated.

Before we do anything, I would recommend contacting WooCommerce Support and asking them why your sites have that connection and if removing it will impact your store/sites. You can open a new support ticket with them here:

    https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/

They should also be able to remove the connections for you if it ends up not impacting your store.

Somehow through WooCommerce.com I’ve ended up with wordpress.com seemingly trying to host my subject websites.

Note that your sites are only being referenced here under your WordPress.com account, not that we’re hosting them. They’re there so you can manage the WooCommerce services that require that connection.

    I hope that clarifies things!
