  No, you can’t. That’s the BLOG. When you start to post, that is where your posts will go. If you delete it, you have no website.

  Can I move WELCOME to HOME and delete WELCOME?

  I’d like WELCOME or HOME to be static.

  How do I work with HOME?

  Let’s take one thing at a time. It’s a BIG (although common) mistake to fixate on changing the structure of the blog before you’ve familiarized yourself with the functions of the things you’re switching and deleting.

  Also: this will be easier if you switch to a theme that doesn’t have a tabbed header.

  There is nothing to edit under Home because you deleted the placeholder post that was there. Put some content up; write a Post.

  THAT is not going to be easy; it may, in fact, not be possible at all. How well do you know CSS?

  Note that here at WP.com the focus is on content, not layout, which is why we have such a wide variety of themes; so you can just pick one and get blogging. Customization of layout is possible, but not easy. Like I said, it depends how well you know CSS.

  In that case, no, you can’t make the date invisible. There are a few formatting workarounds, which you’ll find here:

  Do NOT under any circumstances buy the upgrade before you’ve learned CSS pretty thoroughly; you’re on your own with it.

  And if you lived next door I’d just refer you to my classes, at $150 a pop. Next one September 12th!

  No. You have been worrying about the date since you started. Forget it. Don’t even dare think about CSS.

  You need to start with some hands on knowledge. Until you have some posts and pages online, and under your belt, you are not going to understand what you are asking about!

  Until you do some get some practice, you won’t understand what anyone tells you about how to make it work the way you want it to.
