help moving email subscribers to hosted site
-
Hi there –
Been working with a consultant to migrate from WP.com to hosted site and we’ve followed instructions using JetPack with no success. The email subscribers do not transfer. Could you please help with this?
There’s a possibility that the credentials are incorrect since the original WP.com user is unknown. This may be resolved by transferring ownership to existing administrator.
Happy to provide more account info in private communication.
Thanks!

I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Additional info… when managing the transfer in JetPack to move followers from WP site, the drop down is empty.
Approximately how long does it usually take for Staff to follow up?

Hi Deb,
I’m sorry for the trouble moving your email subscribers. I can definitely take care of that for you.
Before I do, I want to make sure you know that your email followers will continue to receive email updates, and your WordPress.com followers will continue to see your new posts in the Reader. If your WordPress.com followers would like to receive email updates, as well, they can subscribe via email on your new blog.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. If that all sounds good, please confirm the two blogs (the one you want the subscribers transferred to and from) and I’ll take care of that for you. :)

Sounds good, Rachel, thanks!

Hi Deb,
There isn’t a way for us to transfer only your email subscribers. When we transfer your subscribers, it moves all of them (WordPress.com and email) to your new site.
If you’d prefer, you can find and export a list of your email subscribers in your site stats: https://wordpress.com/my-stats
In the “Totals, Followers, & Shares” box on that page, you can click on “Blog” to view all of your subscribers. You can click on “Email-only Followers” to see only the email followers. At the bottom of that page, you can export a list of those email-only subscribers by clicking on “Download all email-only followers as CSV.”
Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

HI Rachel –
The WP subscribers transferred ok. I was trying to prevent duplication. If that’s not an issue, than have at it.
If it requires de-duping, tell me a bit more about doing email subscribers manually. I knew the email subscribers could be exported, I was unaware of how to import into the new site.
Happy to proceed with this.

Hi Deb,
Our system automatically takes care of dupes, so that’s not an issue. I went ahead and transferred all of your subscribers. You’re all set! Please let me know if I can do anything more to help.
